I received an email from my friend Professor Flavor the other day asking if I would be interested and willing to assist him with some experiments that he simply doesn’t have time to run himself. During his research, Professor Flavor comes across a lot of strange recipes and websites making outrageous claims, and it’s my job to verify if these things are true.
Thankfully Bazooka Joe Biden is hocking chewing gum or this entry would have been boring.
I should have given him an eye patch... dang.
Anyway! Who wants some free stuff? I cannot guarantee that all of these offers are valid, but I do try to filter through them to find the ones that involve the least amount of hoop jumping to receive your goodies. In spite of that, a lot of these require registering or signing up for something, so I recommend setting up a second email address unless you want your inbox spammed. The idea of doing a St. Louis Hot Dog Tour started out because I was complaining that you couldn’t get a good hot dog in St. Louis. Chicago has Portillo’s, Los Angeles has Pink’s, and New York has Nathan’s, but what do we in St. Louis have?

Welcome to the first of what will hopefully be many entries to Pandora’s Lunchbox! I’ve been sitting here trying to come up with what you can expect from this blog, but honestly, I’m not really sure myself. My goal is to highlight unique, novel, and bizarre foods, restaurants, and festivals while also trying to present the normal everyday foods we enjoy in a new (and hopefully entertaining) light. Basically, if its food and its interesting, its fair game.
